Spanish solar developer, OPDEnergy is set to commence the construction of the 50 MW La Fernandina solar photovoltaic plant in the town of Merida in Spain.
The EUR30 million (US$34 million) project will be built on a 100 ha of land near the motorway of Alange municipality.
The project is expected to generate enough energy for the consumption of about 26,000 households and offset 40,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per year.
