Obton, in partnership with Shannon Energy, has planned to invest up to EUR300 million (US$ 333.6 million) for the construction of 500 MW solar plants in Ireland.
Obton and Shannon Energy had formed a joint venture to develop the solar farms over five years. The construction of the project will create about 1,000 jobs.
The companies have identified the sites to install the solar panels which can generate 150 MW in Cork, Galway, Longford, and Westmeath, enough energy to supply for about 25,000 homes.
