The NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) of India has launched a tender for the development of interstate transmission system (ISTS) connected energy storage solutions, which are powered by solar photovoltaic projects and will be constructed anywhere in the country.
The selected developers are required to build on a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) scheme. NTPC REL will supply solar power from any of its projects and utilize the energy storage facility on an on-demand basis. The project size will have a minimum capacity of 100 MW/600 MWh with the following selections: 100 MW/600 MWh, 200 MW/1,200 MWh, 300 MW/1,800 MWh, 400 MW/2,400 MWh and 500 MW/3,000 MWh. In addition, NTPC REL will sign a 25-year energy storage service agreement on a fixed charge basis per year with the selected developers.
