NTPC launches tender to acquire 1 GW solar capacity across India

NPTC Ltd., formerly known as National Thermal Power Corporation Limited and government-owned company, has launched a request for proposals for the acquisition of solar photovoltaic assets in India for a cumulative capacity of 1 GW. 

The offered PV asset(s) can be either a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) wherein the applicant intends to offer their 100% equity for sale to NTPC or it can be a standalone Asset(s) which the applicant intends to offer for possible acquisition by NTPC. 

The offered Operational Solar Based Power Assets located in India should meet the following criteria:

  1. The Operational Solar based Power Asset should have an installed capacity of minimum 50 MW (AC) or above in a single location.
  2. The Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) of the offered Operational Solar based Power Asset should have a tariff of less than or equal to INR 5/kwhr and the PPA should have been approved by the respective State or Central Regulatory Commission.
  3. The power from the Operational Solar based Power Asset must be evacuated either through a Central Transmission Utility (CTU) or State Transmission Utility (STU).
  4. The offered Solar PV Asset(s) should be under continuous operation for at least one year as on the date of submission of Stage-I proposals.

The submission of the proposals is until September 22, 2020.
