Nordex Group has been awarded a contract to supply and build 25 N163/5.X turbines for the 147.5 MW Karahka wind farm in Finland by a consortium comprising Helen Oy and the Alandsbanken Wind Power Fund. Additionally, the order will include the Premium Service for the wind turbines for a term of 35 years.
Nordex Group will be supplying the turbines in the cold-climate version and will be fitting the turbines with the Advanced Anti Icing System to prevent the formation of ice on the rotor blades. In addition to this, a hybrid tower that has a hub height of 168 meters will be utilized. The high hub height of the turbines enables them to achieve the highest possible energy yield at the location, which is characterized by average wind speeds. The company will start the installation process in the spring of 2024.
The Karahka wind farm is going to be constructed in the region of North Ostrobothnia in Finland, to the north of the town of Oulainen. The project was developed by a subsidiary of the VSB Group, which is still in charge of the infrastructure development, scheduled to get underway in 2023.
