Neoen has signed a 25-year power purchase agreement with Saskatchewan Power Corporation (SaskPower) to develop and operate the 157 MWp/100 MWac Mino Giizis Solar Energy Facility in the Rural Municipality of Lajord No. 128, south-central Saskatchewan, Canada, in partnership with the Anishinabek Power Alliance under a 50% First Nations equity arrangement.

The power purchase agreement secures 100% of the Solar Energy Facility’s electricity output. Developed by Neoen, the project will be co-owned through a 50% equity partnership with the Anishinabek Power Alliance (APA), which represents four Treaty 4 First Nations—Zagime Anishinabek Nation, Kinistin Saulteaux First Nation, Cote First Nation, and The Key First Nation—with political participation from the Yorkton Tribal Council. The name Mino Giizis means “good sun” in the Ojibwe language, and Neoen will serve as the project’s long-term owner and operator.

Once commissioned, the Mino Giizis Solar Energy Facility will deliver clean electricity to SaskPower under a 25-year agreement, supporting the utility’s goal of achieving a net-zero greenhouse gas power system by 2050 or sooner. The project will also contribute to meeting increasing demand for renewable energy from commercial and industrial customers. Scheduled to begin operations in 2028, the facility is expected to produce around 228,000 MWh of emissions-free electricity each year, sufficient to supply approximately 30,000 homes.
