The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is advancing the sixth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park under the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model, adding 1.8 GW of solar capacity. This phase is 68.59% complete, with 1 GW already operational and 800 MW still under construction. Over 2.2 million solar panels are installed, with plans to reach over 3.9 million by the phase’s completion in 2026.
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, with a planned capacity of 5,000 MW by 2030 and investments of AED 50 billion (US$13 billion). It aims to save over 6.5 million tons of carbon emissions annually upon completion, contributing to Dubai’s Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and Net Zero Emissions Strategy 2050, targeting 100% clean energy by 2050. The park, managed by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), uses both photovoltaic (PV) and Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) technologies and was recognized in 2014 with the MEED Quality Award for Best Sustainable Project in the UAE.
