Ameren Corporation has announced that the Missouri Public Service Commission voted unanimously to grant its subsidiary Ameren Missouri a certificate of convenience and necessity to acquire, after construction, a 400 MW wind farm that is expected to be located in Schuyler and Adair counties, northeast Missouri.
More milestones remain for the project, including obtaining a timely and acceptable Midcontinent Independent System Operator transmission interconnection agreement. Should Ameren secure all that is required to proceed with construction, the wind farm would be the largest ever developed in Missouri, a state in the Midwestern region of the United States.
The wind farm would supply a portion of Ameren Missouri's 1.2 million electric customers, located across the 64 counties and more than 500 communities that comprise the company's service area.
