Mingyang Smart Energy Group Ltd has secured a 306 MW order from Vena Energy for the Talim (212.5 MW) and the Sembrano (93.75 MW) onshore wind projects located in the province of Rizal, Philippines.
The move comes at a time when the Philippines is suffering from a critical shortage of power and high electricity costs due to their extended dependence on imported fossil fuels and growing energy demand. To address the challenges associated with this, the Philippine government has pledged to increase its support for renewable energy and aims to achieve a 50% share of renewable energy in its power structure by 2040, with wind power accounting for roughly 11.8 GW.
As part of the order, Mingyang will supply, transport, install and commission 49 MySE 6.25-172 wind turbines, as well as a long-term O&M service agreement for the two projects. Commissioning for the projects is expected to be completed in late 2024, and upon completion, the projects will contribute significantly towards reducing electricity costs and promoting renewable energy across the country.
