Ayala corporation has started the construction of its 300 MW Palauig 2 solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Zambales, Philippines.
The cost of the new facility, including the construction of the 1,200 MW transmission line, is estimated to be PHP16 billion (US$293.1 million). The solar farm is expected to provide over 450 GWh of renewable energy annually. The Palauig 1 solar farm can generate enough power to supply electricity to 139,000 households and reduce 350,000 tons of carbon emissions per year.
Seraphim will supply 540 MWp solar modules for the facility. The engineering, procurement, and construction contractors are ERS Energy and Global Electric Power Development Corporation (GEC), with ERS as the offshore supplier and GEC as the onshore construction contractor.
Prime Infra has signed a 20-year power supply agreement (PSA) with Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) to supply 850 MW of energy generated from its 2,500 MW to 3,500 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) system in the Philippines.
