MHI Vestas Offshore Wind, a joint venture between Vestas Wind Systems and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), has announced that it has been selected by EDF Renewables North America as the preferred supplier for the Nautilus Offshore Wind project located off the coast of Atlantic City, New Jersey.
The project has plans to feature three V164-8.3 MW turbines from MHI Vestas. It is the first offshore wind project to be developed in New Jersey, a state located in the north-east of the USA.
Nautilus Offshore Wind will be located in state waters and is already fully permitted. The project is currently under review by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities for approval of an offshore renewable energy credit (OREC) agreement. Pending this, the wind farm could be operational as soon as 2020.
