Peninsula Clean Energy has announced that the 200 MW Wright Solar project has broken ground in San Mateo County, California, western USA. Peninsula Clean Energy, a Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) agency and electricity provider for 290,000 San Mateo County customers, is the power purchaser of the project, having signed a 25-year PPA with Wright Solar Park LLC.

This makes the project California’s largest solar installation built exclusively for a CCA agency. It is owned by Centaurus Renewable Energy and the construction and operations are managed by Clēnera, LLC. The solar facility is being constructed by Swinerton Renewable Energy with union labor hired from the surrounding areas.

The project is expected to come online in late 2019. It will produce enough electricity to power more than 100,000 San Mateo County homes a year.
