Maoneng has filed a development application for the 225 MW/450 MWh Gould Creek energy storage project (BESS) on a 30-hectare site at Gould Creek, about 20 kilometers north of Adelaide, Australia.
The proposed AUD112.5 million (US$82.6 million) Gould Creek battery storage project will comprise up to 240 standard shipping containers, larger than the 150MW/194MWh Hornsdale Power Reserve in South Australia. The project will be connected to the high voltage 275 kV transmission grid via Para Substation, which is owned by ElectraNet, located less than 100 meters away from the project.
The project is scheduled to be complete in 2023 and has received support from the state government. Once operational, the project is expected to generate enough energy to support up to 40,000 homes.
