LINE Hydrogen has received approval for Tasmania's first green hydrogen production, storage, and distribution project. The 7.6 MW facility will leverage the up-and-coming collocated solar farm that aims to produce an annual volume of 1,241,000 kg of green hydrogen to substitute imported diesel. The hydrogen plant will be constructed in Tasmania with production scheduled to start late 2023 or early 2024.
LINE Hydrogen has already entered into significant commercial arrangements to supply hydrogen fuel and technologies. Moreover, the green hydrogen will be used to supply hydrogen refueling stations across Tasmania, with the goal of reducing heavy transport emissions and making one of Australia's first carbon-neutral mines in Western Australia. Diesel combustion contributes 2.68 kg of CO2 per liter. Thus, transitioning to green hydrogen has an immediate and significant environmental impact.
LINE Hydrogen's manufacturing facility has been granted development approval by the George Town Council after receiving permit conditions approval from the Tasmanian EPA earlier in June.
