Lightsource BP has partnered with the Alabama Municipal Electric Authority (AMEA) for the development of a 130MWDC /100 MWAC solar photovoltaic farm located in Montgomery County, Alabama under the design, build, finance, operate and, own (BDFOO) scheme.

The facility will feature up to 350,000 solar panels across 800 acres of land. The solar farm will deliver energy to AMEA under a 20-year PPA. The project, situated 15 miles from AMEA’s headquarters in Montgomery, will supply energy to AMEA’s 11 member utilities across the state.

The US$125 million project is expected to be operational by 2021.
