Ørsted’s 450 MW Borkum Riffgrund 2 offshore wind farm has a capacity of 450 MW and is located in the North Sea, approximately 57 km off the north-west coast of Germany. Upon completion, it will be able to produce green energy to cover the consumption of 460,000 German households. Each of the 20 foundations is more than 50 meters (164 ft) high and weighing 950 tonnes.
Operation of the project is expected in early 2019. The installation of the turbines has been started and is to be completed in the third quarter of 2018.
