Bureau Veritas has awarded Ørsted a project certificate for the 450 MW offshore wind farm Borkum Riffgrund 2. Located in the German North Sea, 56 km off the coast of Lower Saxony , the project includes 56 turbines MHI Vestas V164-8.3MW based on two different types of foundations: monopiles with bolted transition parts and suction envelopes. Borkum Riffgrund 2 provides clean energy to 460,000 households.
The project certificate concludes that a dual certification process was launched in 2015 - both according to the internationally recognized certification scheme IEC 61400-22 and according to German BSH standards. The assessment covered all assets, including wind turbines, their foundations, the offshore substation and inter-grid cables. This assessment covered all phases of the project, from design, manufacturing, installation and commissioning.
