JERA submits EIC document for 356 MW Offshore wind farm in Japan

JERA Co. has submitted its Primary Environmental Impact Consideration Document to the Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry for the development of 356 MW Offshore wind project located off the town of Happo and the city of Noshiro in Akita Prefecture, Japan.

The document summarizes the results of deliberations concerning environmental conservation issues to be considered at the project planning stage. Submission of the Primary Environmental Impact Consideration Document is the first of four phases stipulated under the Environmental Impact Assessment Law.

JERA plans to develop the offshore wind power generation project as it believes that the favorable wind conditions and shallow seabed off Happo and Noshiro make the area suitable for the development of bottom-fixed offshore wind power generation. It will be equipped with 30 turbines with individual capacities of 12 MW. The wind farm will be installed over an area of 32.3 km sq.
