Canadian public utility Hydro-Québec has launched tenders for a 480 MW block of renewable energy and 300 MW block of wind energy projects with the aim to increase energy supply to meet the demand in the province of Québec.
The 300 MW block of wind energy tender must include local participation and regional content requirements to maximize the social and financial benefits of the local communities of the province. The term for power purchase agreements (PPAs) is up to 30 years, starting from the date on which the project begins delivering power.
The 480 MW block of renewable energy is open to all suppliers of renewable energy as defined by the Québec Energy Board. The accepted projects include wind, solar, geothermal, tidal, wave, hydro, biomass, biogas, and thermal energy sources which use at least 75% renewable fuels. The term for PPAs is at a minimum of 20 years with no impact on the evaluation grid.
