The Ministry of Energy and Non-Renewable Natural Resources of Ecuador has awarded a 25-year concession to the consortium of Gran Solar and Total Eren for the development of the Conolophus solar-plus-storage system on the Galapagos Islands.

In June 2021, the Gransolar-Total Eren consortium has made an offer of US$458.88 per MWh against the reserve price of USD 565.4/MWh set by the agency for the regulation and control of energy and non-renewable natural resources (ARC).

The project will have a generating capacity of 14.8 MW for the solar photovoltaic and a 40.9 MWh battery energy storage system. The transmission infrastructure will supply power to the islands of Baltra and Santa Cruz.
