Facebook Inc has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments (DESRI) for the 180 MW Chester solar PV project in Virginia, USA.
The project will supply the produced energy to Facebook's data centers in the region such as Henrico Data Center, located nearby in Eastern Henrico County. The 160 MW Chester Pv plant is developed by DESRI and Torch Clean Energy in partnership.
The project will attract around 200 jobs during the construction. Once in operation, DESRI will establish and fund a clean energy scholarship program to help cultivate local workforce talent by supporting graduating seniors from local high schools that have an interest in Virginia's growing clean energy economy.
