Peruvian environmental authorities have granted Central Hidroélectrica Huallaga Hydro, a subsidiary of Grupo Ibereólica Renovables, permission to construct a 392 MW hydroelectric generation facility on the Huallaga River in the central Huánuco region.
The facility will be 1,592m high, with a 183m by 421m dam, a 10.8km by 6.5m water supply tunnel and a powerhouse containing three 124 MW generators. The total estimated cost of construction is US$570 million.
The project has been in development since 2015, and still has several other authorizations and permits to secure before construction can begin.
