Engie SA has been awarded a government contract to build and operate a 29 MW wood biomass power plant located in Pamplona, Navarre region, Spain for a 25-year concession deal. The facility will supply heat to 4,500 households and several public buildings in the city.
The plant will be built in two phases. The first phase with a 14.5 MW capacity will be in operation by 2020. At a later stage, the plant will be expanded to reach 29 MW of full capacity.
The contract was awarded to Engie by Navarra de Suelo y Vivienda SA (Nasuvinsa), the Navarre government in charge of housing and urban development. The plant has a total investment of EUR12.5 million (US$13.9 million). Engie will contribute EUR6 million(US$6.66 million) while Nasuvinsa will provide the remaining EUR6.5 million(US$7.21 million) for civil works, urban development, and distribution networks.
