French energy group Engie SA has started the operation of its 30 MW solar photovoltaic project located in the region of Haradh in eastern Saudi Arabia which was delivered in two phases.
The 10 MW first phase was inaugurated in August of this year while the construction of the remaining 20 MW was recently completed. The National Agricultural Development Co (NADEC) has signed a power purchase agreement with Engie for the energy produced from the solar farm.
NADEC has agreed to an off-take deal of SAR0.094 (US$0.024) per kWh for 25 years.
