Sungrow has signed a contract deal with ENGIE to provide 638 MWh of its DC-coupled liquid-cooled energy storage system (ESS) to the 181.25 MWac Coya solar photovoltaic (PV) project in the Mara Elena region of the Antofagasta Region in Chile.
The construction of the storage system is slated to commence in December 2022, and it is anticipated that all batteries will be operational by the beginning of Q1 of 2024.
The ESS will store renewable energy from the Coya solar facility and deliver 200 GWh per year for five hours per day. This will provide renewable energy to 100,000 homes and eliminate 65,642 tonnes of CO2 annually, comparable to 22,000 internal combustion automobiles.
