With the significant delays in the construction of the 240,000 tonne-capacity waste gasification project in Hull, the Energy Works (Hull) Ltd terminated the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with MW High Tech Projects UK. The facility is located in brownfield site near the centre of the city, UK.
The construction of the facility was started in January 2016 but missed the deadline for completion in 2018. It was expected that the facility will be operational by Spring of 2019.
The project is designed to have a single fluidised bed gasifier feeder. It will also have a steam turbine generator with feedstock preparation, storage, and associated facilities.
Sutco UK, part of the LM Group, designed the mechanical pre-treatment plant (MPT), and fuel conveying system. During the construction, around 160 jobs were created. 25 jobs were also created for the operation of the project.
The project received grant from the European Regional Development Fund in 2013 with £19.9.
