Enel Green Power begins development of 259.2 MW Campillo wind cluster in Spain

Enel Green Power Espana (EGPE), the renewables unit of Endesa has started the construction of the Campillo wind cluster in Spain’s Cuenca province.

EGPE will invest around EUR256 million (US$290.4 million) in building the 259.2 MW cluster, which comprises three onshore wind farms between the towns of Campillo de Altobuey and Enguidanos. The project also requires the construction of four electrical substations and three high-voltage lines.

Campillo I will have an installed capacity of around 76.8 MW, while Campillo II and III will each have a capacity of 91.2 MW.

The three wind farms combined will produce an estimated 660 GWh per year, with part of the output to be supplied to healthcare giant Johnson & Johnson under a virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) signed with Endesa last July.

Campillo II and III will account for around 80% of energy agreed through the VPPA, while the remaining 20% will be delivered from the 47 MW Veracruz solar PV plant in Badajoz.
