Eiffage has announced that it has been awarded a turnkey design-and-build contract for the Singrobo-Ahouaty hydropower plant by concessionaire Ivoire Hydro Energy.

Eiffage's contract, representing a value of nearly EUR110 million (US$127.1 million), covers the design and construction of the civil engineering works as well as the manufacturing, installation and commissioning of all hydromechanical, electromechanical and electrical equipment for the 44 MW power plant, to be located on the Bandama River in Côte d’Ivoire.

The project includes the construction of a concrete rockfill dam, a spillway, a turbine plant, a discharge channel, the switchyard, the power line connecting the plant to the grid, temporary facilities and access roads. Eiffage Génie Civil and Eiffage Énergie Systèmes are to provide expert support. Work will start during the first quarter of 2019 and will last for three years.

This contract was awarded following an international request for proposals issued by Ivoire Hydro Energy in 2015, which was won by Eiffage in 2016.

The plant will contribute significantly to meeting the Côte d’Ivoire government's target of producing 42% of the country's energy through renewable sources by 2030. It is expected to be fully operational by 2021.
