The transaction started in May 2018 where Eesti Energia AS expressed its interest to buy the Tallinn-based renewable energy producer Nelja Energia AS for EUR289 million (USD335 million) plus the assumption of EUR204 million in net debt as at end-2017.

Just recently, on August 6, 2018, the Lithuanian Competition Council has given the greenlight for the acquisition, stating that the planned takeover will not create a dominant position or significantly impede the competition in the relevant markets. The deal is subject to a prolonged review.
