Corio Generation has signed a partnership with Q-Energy to explore the potential for floating offshore wind power development in Spain.

The two companies have begun preliminary work along the Spanish coastline to locate suitable locations for floating offshore wind farms.

The announcement comes as Spain seeks to boost domestic electricity generation from renewable sources by 2030. Under a new plan for offshore wind generation, the government has proclaimed its intention to develop up to 3 GW of floating offshore wind by the end of the decade.
