Lightsource bp has started construction of the 49.96 MWp Torrubia solar photovoltaic (PV) project, located in La Muela, municipality of Zaragoza, Spain.
With a total installed capacity of 49.96 MWp, the solar farm has an estimated investment of more than EUR35 million (US$39.44 million). The project will generate up to 150 local jobs.
In addition, the Torrubia project will be built taking into account the characteristics of the territory, respecting and promoting local biodiversity. Local plants such as thyme and rosemary will be planted to reduce the visual alteration of the environment. The perimeter fence is designed to allow the passage of small fauna. Lightsource will leave an area of 8.26 hectares fallow, that will serve as a feeding ground and refuge for birds.
