Enel Green Power España has acquired construction permits to develop two solar farms, namely Son Orlandis with energy storage space in vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFB) and Son Reus on the island of Mallorca, Spain.
Son Orlandis will be supplied in two phases. The 3.34 MWp/2.78 nominal megawatts (MWn) solar farm will be integrated with a 1.1 MW/5.5 MWh VRFB-based energy storage system in the location close by. The battery will be supplied by Largo Clean Energy Corp.
The second project, Son Reus, has a 12.53 MWp/10.73 MWn capacity.
Both Son Orlandis, as well as Son Reus, took advantage of the co-financing assistance from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
The solar farms are expected to be completed in the initial half of 2022.
