The construction phase has commenced for the 600 MW Monsoon Wind project located at the Sekong and Attapeu provinces in Laos, the largest onshore wind farm in Southeast Asia once commissioned.
The project is owned by Thailand-based Impact Energy Asia Development, in partnership with BCPG Public Company Limited and Mitsubishi Corporation. State-owned Vietnam Electricity has contracted the energy that will be produced from the wind farm through a power purchase agreement (PPA) for 25 years.
The 133-wind turbine project is expected to be operational by 2025. The total investment in the wind farm is about US$950 million.
