Construction Progresses for 49.1 MW Onshore wind farm in Scotland

Fred Olsen Renewables has progressed with the construction of the 49.1 MW Crystal Rig 4 wind farm in Scotland, UK.

The 11-turbine site is situated south of Dunbar in East Lothian and northwest of Duns in the Scottish Borders. Approved by the Scottish government in 2021, the project aims to start generating power in early 2026. RJ McLeod will serve as the main contractor for installation. This will be Fred Olsen Renewables' first wind farm in Scotland to feature Vestas turbines. The project is expected to contribute over GBP 8 million (US$ 10 million) to the communities of East Lothian and the Scottish Borders throughout its operational lifetime.

Crystal Rig Wind Farm first commenced operation in 2003 and consisted of 25 turbines. By 2025 it will have 102 turbines and will generate over 260 MW of clean, green, electricity – capable of powering 200,000 homes. It is a unique complex of four separate wind farm developments, with the oldest ready to be decommissioned in 2028.
