The construction of SES Saran solar project near the city of Saran has been completed.
The project involves the development of the 100 MWp solar photovoltaic project located in a 164-hectare of land in Karaganda, Kazakhstan. The facility is expected to produce approximately 140,000 MWh/year for a period of operation of more than 25 years. It is powered by 306,660 solar modules, as well as 40 inverters and a substation connected to the 110 kV high voltage network.
The solar plant helps reduce CO2 emissions by 93,500 tonnes per year and contribute to Kazakhstan’s national emission reduction targets.
The plant was developed by Goldbeck Solar GmbH / Solarnet GmbH, with Enerparc as construction company. European Bank for Reconstruction and Development supports the project with a financing of US$73.4 million on November 2018. The project cost amounted to US$103.5 million including construction of a dedicated substation near Saran.
Under a 15-year PPA, facility is selling power at a price of 34.61 KZT (US$0.091) per kWh indexed with inflation.
