Hydrogen Renewables Australia (HRA) Pty has agreed to partner with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) on its 5000 MW (5 GW) Murchison Renewable Hydrogen Project located near Kalbarri in the mid-west of Western Australia.
The Murchison Renewable Hydrogen Project is a large scale (up to 5000 MW), export oriented green hydrogen project that is located on the 126,000 hectares Murchison House Station and will be powered by combined wind and solar power generation and utilize desalinated water. The project is aiming to provide large scale hydrogen export to the Asian markets – notably Japan and Korea.
Terry Kallis, Executive Chairman of Hydrogen Renewables Australia said, "Our partnership with CIP will enable the Murchison Renewable Hydrogen Project to proceed with its planned development to assess the feasibility of producing competitive hydrogen exports for the Asian markets," Hydrogen Renewables Australia's executive chairman".
Earlier this year Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hydrogen Renewables Australia to explore the areas of hydrogen policy, technical, and commercial matters for development. This includes the feasibility check of injecting hydrogen facility into the pipeline from the Murchison project.
The Murchison Renewable Hydrogen project will present an opportunity for Australia to lead in the emerging market for zero emissions energy.
