bp and the Government of Mauritania have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under which bp will implement a program to explore the possibilities for large-scale green hydrogen production in the country.
Under the terms of the agreement, bp will conduct a series of studies to determine the commercial and technical feasibility of producing green hydrogen in Mauritania.
bp will initially conduct a data-collecting campaign to assess the suitability of wind and solar resources in chosen sites for large-scale power generation and green hydrogen production. Green hydrogen is made by electrolyzing water with energy from renewable sources.
