British multinational oil and gas company BP plc is developing a green hydrogen production facility in the northeast of England that will have a total generating capacity of 500 MW when completed.
Phase 1 of the HyGreen Teeside hydrogen project will have an installed capacity of 60 MW. The final investment of the project is expected to be finalized in 2023 with the target start of production by 2025.
bp is working with industry, local administration such as Tees Valley Combined Authority (TVCA) , and the UK government to increase the pace of decarbonization in transport.
HyGreen Teesside is expected to fuel the development of Teesside into the UK’s first major hydrogen transport hub, leading the way for large-scale decarbonization of heavy transport, airports, ports, and rail in the UK.
