The US Department of Energy, the Israel Ministry of Energy, jointly with the Israel Innovation Authority and the BIRD Foundation has launched a tender for renewable energy projects that will be funded by a grant under the "BIRD Energy" program.
The program develops innovation through U.S.-Israel cooperation on a range of clean energy technologies, including renewable energy, energy efficiency, natural gas, and energy-water technologies.
Topics that are within the scope of the proposal include the innovation in all areas of renewable energy and energy efficiencies, such as solar and wind power, advanced vehicle technologies and alternative fuels, smart grid, storage, and water-energy nexus, advanced manufacturing, AI for energy management, and other related areas.
The program will only consider proposals that are a product of the R&D cooperation between two companies or cooperation between a company and a university/research institution (one from the U.S. and one from Israel).
The selected developers could potentially receive a conditional grant per project of up to 50% of the R&D costs, or up to a maximum US$1 million per project.
The submission of the proposal is until August 13, 2020.
