BayWa r.e has started the construction of the Witnica solar park which will be by far the largest solar power plant in Poland.

The 64.6 MWp project is being built near Witnica, close to the German border between Poznań and Berlin. The solar farm is being constructed without the need for any government subsidies, and the electricity generated will be sold locally to an industrial client via a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA). The company is already in advanced discussions to secure the PPA.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2020.
