BayWa r.e. has acquired Forsa Energy’s UK renewable energy business. Backed by power-focused private equity firm Riverstone, Forsa Energy develops, builds and operates energy assets across Europe.

In total, BayWa r.e. will acquire access to a 350 MW pipeline of Scottish onshore wind farms – adding to the 823 MW of solar and 1,047 MW of wind power already under management within the UK and Ireland.

With planning consent on some of the greenfield sites in Scotland, the pipeline has six wind farms totaling 200 MW already in place and the expectation of consent for an additional significant wind farm of a further 150 MW by 2020.

In addition to the wind farms, BayWa r.e. will also gain an accomplished onshore wind development and construction team.
