Nervion Industries, part of Spanish engineering group Amper SA, signed a EUR23 million (US$25.8m) contract with Spanish state-owned shipbuilder Navantia. Nervion will build five floating platforms and assemble the platforms, carry out electrical works for 50 MW Scottish floating wind farm project that will be located in about 15 km southeast of Aberdeen Bay, Scotland.
The project features five V164-9.5 MW turbines mounted on semi-submersible floating platforms and a single V80-2.0 MW unit, made by Denmarks’ Vestas Wind Systems A/S. The offshore wind farm is estimated to produce as much power as 56,000 households consume annually.
The project developer is Spanish renewable energy infrastructure group Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios SA. This year, its UK offshore division Cobra Wind International Ltd awarded a contract for the assembly and delivery of the wind farm’s five floating foundations to a joint-venture partnership between Navantia and Windar Renovables SL.
