Banks Renewables, a subsidiary of Banks Group, seeks approval for its planned 105.6 MW Lethans wind project in Scotland's East Ayrshire, UK.
Initially, the project was granted planning approval by the Scottish government with an originally proposed capacity of 88 MW. Although the capacity has increased, the developer has kept the proposed turbine number at 22 but boosted the overall power generation efficiency of the plant.
The GBP132 million (US$165.9 million) project will provide power to over 90,000 local homes through the National Grid network. It will have a useful life of up to 30 years.
