Avangrid has announced its plans to construct the 57 MWdc (44 MWac) Camino Solar project in California, USA. The solar facility will be situated in Kern County, adjacent to Avangrid's existing Manzana Wind farm.
Cupertino Electric, Inc. has been appointed as the construction contractor. With an estimated commercial operation date of 2025, the Camino Solar project is projected to generate approximately US$15.5 million in local taxes throughout its lifetime. The construction process, incorporating more than 105,000 solar panels, is anticipated to be completed within a year of mobilization.
Avangrid, recognized as the third largest renewable energy operator in the US, holds a portfolio of 8.7 GW of installed and operated capacity.
