BayWa has received consent for its planning application to develop a 57 MW capacity and a 171 MWh storage capability battery energy storage system (BESS) in Stockton-on-Tees, UK.
BayWa, together with Grüne Energien Solar, has identified several ways to improve local biodiversity, such as planting native grasslands, wildflowers, hedgerows, and trees. The development of BESS, whether connected to renewable energy plants or as a stand-alone projects, demonstrates the full potential of green energy by providing grid flexibility and stability, and by significantly contributing to the acceleration of the energy transition.
The Meadow Farm BESS project will help stabilize the local electricity system by providing flexibility and supporting the wider deployment of renewable generation onto the grid. It will also ultimately support the UK's transition to a cleaner environment and a greener economy.
