AES, AIMCo, SPower receive planning permit for 500 MW solar project in Virginia

US solar and wind power producer, sPower, in joint venture with The AES Corporation and Alberta Investment Management Corporation, has obtained three special use permits from the Spotsylvania Board of Supervisors for the development of a 500 MW solar photovoltaic project in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, the largest on the east coast. 

The project is expected to generate enough power for the consumption of about 111,000 homes annually.
