Acciona has received authorization from the Chilean Electrical Coordinator to start commercial operations (COD) of the Almeyda photovoltaic plant, located in the Atacama region. The authorization indicates that the 62 MWp solar plant has been made available for consideration in the programming and economic dispatch of the National Electric System (SEN) by the Coordinator.

The entity also issued in mid-March the authorization to start commercial operation of the San Gabriel wind farm, which ACCIONA operates in the Araucanía Region, contributing 183 additional renewable MW of installed power to the National Electric System (SEN).

Both renewable facilities began operating during the last quarter of 2019, and together contribute to avoiding the emission of 794,000 tons of CO2 equivalent per year in coal-fired plants.
