ACCIONA Industrial has announced that, in consortium with IMASA Ingeniería y Proyectos, it has has been awarded construction and operation and maintenance contracts for a 50 MW biomass-fired power plant in Teixeiro, north-west Spain.
The project, owned by GREENALIA, has a total investment of approximately EUR110 million (US$127.8 million). It will incorporate the latest technological innovations applied to biomass plants for power generation. With capacity to treat will 500,000 tons of biomass per year, it is expected to generate 324 GWh per year from forest biomass collected from the Galician mountains.
Construction of the plant is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2019. The ACCIONA-IMASA consortium will operate and maintain it for 15 years.
