The Northwester 2 offshore wind farm is expected to be fully operational before the summer and while construction works are still underway, the first turbine started producing green energy. The 219 MW project comprises of 23 MHI Vestas 164-9.5 MW turbines – the most powerful turbines to enter commercial operation to date – supplying the equivalent of 230,000 households with green energy via Elia’s Modular Offshore Grid.
Parkwind NV owns 70% of the project, while the remaining 30% stake is held by Sumitomo Corp.
