Vatttenfall takes final investment decision for 344 MW Offshore wind farms in Denmark

Vattenfall has taken the final investment decision for Vesterhav Syd and Vesterhav Nord offshore wind farms located on the west coast of Jutland, Denmark. 

With a total capacity of 344 MW, the 2 offshore wind farms will produce enough green electricity for the annual needs of approximately 380,000 Danish households and are expected to be fully operational by the end of 2023.

At 176 MW, Vesterhav Nord will be located a maximum of around 8.5 km offshore and cover an area of around 40 km2. It consists of 21 SG 8.0-167 DD offshore wind turbines, each with a capacity of 8.4 MW and rotor diameter of 167 meters, which will be commissioned from the Port of Thyborøn.

Vesterhav Syd (168 MW) will be located around 10 km offshore and cover an area of around 37 km2. It consists of 20 Siemens Gamesa offshore wind turbines with the same specifications and will be commissioned from the Port of Hvide Sande.

With the final investment decision at a value of EUR769 million (USD867.52 million) Vattenfall and its suppliers will initiate the last stage of the development of the two offshore wind farms. The company had also signed a turbine supply contract and a three-year Service agreement with Siemens Gamesa.
